House of… Mop?

On this tenth day of September, 2010, the House of Rock is experiencing a cleansing that it has never experienced. On this day, the House of Rock has a maid.

For those that live in or visit the House of Rock, you can thank Mom D and Alicia D for this escalation in the war against grime. Perhaps being male blinds me to the dusty horrors that accumulate in the corners of this place I call home. It was my Mom’s and Sister’s ardent insisting that convinced me to give this a try.

Let’s talk maids!

I decided to pursue MaidPro. I was impressed with their fierce focus on background checks and security, and the manager, John Antolini, at the Meriden branch was professional, well spoken, and very articulate in his description of how things would go down.

For this first time cleaning, the charge is $26 an hour. Weekly visits would cost $50, bi-weekly $60, monthly… I think $70 or $75.

My plan at this point is to first see the quality of the clean, and second see how long it lasts before the HoR has returned to a state of shame. At that point I’ll make an executive decision as to whether the change in quality of life is worth the financial expenditure.

I’ll report back with my review.

You know…we should have had Maids come over after one of our parties in College….or just once ever. That would have been the most bang for your buck on that cleaning adventure.
I can see it now…a Huge Tractor Trailer opens up to Dozens of maids. Dusters, Moppers, Dish Washers, Maids in Bionic Vacuuming Harnesses. All to clean HnH. Can we get an MSPaint of that please?

You ever play that video game Descent? You’d fly a spaceship through a mining facility where all the mining equipment, which had obviously become sentient, would take hostages and try to kill you.

Anyway, I think one of these spaceships equipped with Bleach and Tilex cannons might be the only way to save the second floor of Hampden and Howe.

Wow, your dedication to this site is unparalleled.

Overall, I was pleased. The cleaning was thorough and well done. I was a little disappointed that more wasn’t done, but they had a time limit so all is forgiven. I will very likely use them again, though probably not on a regular basis. Much more likely on special occasions – like before parties or before I invite women to visit with the intent of wooing them.

Nothing busts romance potential like a dirty microwave.

Thanks for the info. My roommate and I are considering a similar arrangement. It’s not that we’re lazy or unclean, at least I don’t think that’s the case. But the monthly stuff, like dusting and sandblasting the toilet, is best left to the professionals.
I think you’ve officially transcended into adulthood given that you will call a maid to clean up *before* a party.
