Whoa.

I think this is going to be a good week here on MikeDiDonato.com. This weekend saw Roller Derby, disc golf, board games, and great eats.

Great weather seems to result in an overwhelming explosion of fun activity. I think perhaps over the winter, activity builds up in some sort of fun backlog. Then, when the weather improves all we can do to is ride the tide of great times.

Disc Golf was fantastic. It was my first time out this season and Jesse and I were surprised to be able to get some time in as the weather had hinted at relentless showers. As an added treat, on Sunday the peacocks were showing their plumes at the Wickham park aviary.

I was amazed at how large these bird’s plumes are. Showing its full regalia, this bird’s feathers had at least a 5 foot RADIUS. You can see a person standing a few feet behind the bird in that second shot. The birds were a treat, and the disc golf wasn’t so bad either. I didn’t get anywhere close to a personal best, but I found a strong backhand toss that hopefully will improve my game this summer.

This is going to be a great season.

On Friday, I ran in an orienteering race where I decided to cut in between some buildings, and there was a little courtyard there, with two peacocks wandering around. I totally wasn’t expecting that, but I kept going. They didn’t seem to mind, even though I was running at them at full speed.

Funny how we both saw live peacocks this weekend.
