Every issue of a sword and sorcery genre comic usually featured the rescue of a scantily clad girl and a sword fight. There was little plot or character development, only the allure of sex and violence in pencil sketch. Dark Horse Publishers set out to change this by enlisted Kurt Busiek (my favorite comic author) to write a deeper look into the most famous barbarian character.
