I am not well versed in felt, but once I saw this Angry Bird plush pattern as shared by Eileen, I knew I had to give it a shot. For those of you not in the know, Angry Birds is an iphone/ipad app where you launch tiny angry birds across the screen to hit the evil pigs who stole your eggs. It’s exceedingly popular and oppressively addicting.
At my earliest convenience, I zipped over to Michael’s Craft Store (my obvious craft store of coincidental convenience choice) and purchased some embroidery floss, felt squares, and filler.
Overall? Not too tricky. I had never made a 3-D felt thing, but the directions explain the process fairly well.
I ultimately made two, one for Jobonga + Margot and the second for Vivienne.
I had some trouble closing up the bottom and top of the first Angry Bird, but by the second I was getting the hang of it.

It was a fun project! I’m excited to report that I will now feel more confidence with future 3D plush felt crafts.
Here’s a picture of Margot enjoying the Angry Bird!
Nice work Mike! I also had craft time over the holidays, after seeing this blog post: http://www.wearenotmartha.com/2010/12/make-your-own-glitter-flats/ I have no blog of my own to post my results, but take my word for it, my new glitter shoes are awesome.
Thanks!
And if your glitter flats came out anything like those on WeAreNotMartha, than I applaud you.
I made wedges instead of flats and they are awesome! I’ll email a pic.
Sander had a great idea.
Glitter shoes with rainbow sprinkles instead of glitter.
I love this idea.
OMG! Madeline totally saw Angry Bird and punched him to the ground!
Companion game? Cats–>Birds–>Pigs?
