At first thought, I’d want to invest my time into music. There’s nothing that makes me as happy as playing tunes. That said, the lifestyle of a musician is hardly the type of work that I enjoy. I like structure and organization, and the life of a self employed musician is hardly that.
I think being a coffee shop barrista would be fun too, though with the fun coffee making would come cleaning the floor and operating the cash register. Perhaps there’s no escape. Perhaps every occupation has its thorns.
It’s a shame there’s no such a thing as a professional MSPainter.
I’ll tell you what I’d do, man: two chicks at the same time, man. And I think if I were a millionaire I could hook that up, too; ’cause chicks dig dudes with money.
National Park Ranger, this is not a money problem so much as it’s hard to stay in the MA area and work at a Natl. Park and I’m not sure how hard it is to land a park ranger job.
I’d also love to be a ecology field researcher, like walking around tracking plants, and birds and animals and such. I’d need to get some more degrees to do this and I think again it’d be hard to do around Boston.
I’m one of those nerds who would do exactly what I’m doing: teach music at a college and perform (although I’d play chamber music and solo stuff instead of sometimes-miserable gigs with mediocre orchestras).
I think I’d probably do that three days a week, and then one of the other days I’d work at Peet’s. The rest of my time would be spent cooking, gardening, going for walks, and drinking tea.
Actually, this is entirely my life now, with the addition of Peet’s and the subtraction of my 15 hour workdays and ridiculous commute…
I don’t know why this posted up here. But! Hey, Mike D, you could totally be a professional MS Painter. There’s a guy who’s a professional Lego sculptor.
I looked into Forest Ranger Mykal, and most call for some sort of Forestry major, or land preservation experience. And like you said…this area is Butt for Nat’l Parks.

I would totally own a combination yarn store/cafe/restaurant. That’s my retirement dream.
If education requirements were no option and/or I had infinite money for schooling, I’d like to become a nurse.

I would own my own business (hobby/games store). Man alive…Sitting around learning rules for games for days on end?! That would be sick sweet.
My only other option would be to do what I do now in an academic setting. Teaching kids/folks how to do good science. That would be nice as well.

a farmer of heirloom veggies, chickens, turkeys, and goats. Yay!

Yeah as much as it’d be awesome to be a Park Ranger, I’m not exactly sure I want to live in Wyoming or what not.
Sports talk show host. I like to talk about sports, and I’d get into “niche” sports such as, oh, DERBY!!!!!
The Original CTRGGRDonald
is sad the Tampa Bay Derby Darlins lost to KC tonight :(
Motorcycle racer. Absolutely.
World Superbike, most likely.
Wait, I teach science to seniors in high school and nights at college. Does that mean my job doesn’t have good pay?
My ideal job would be “beer taster” for a microbrew house. And, because I like being busy, part-time I’d shade in the pencils for DC Comics’ artists.
I read that as “tackling plants and birds and animals…” and thought “Whoa, hardcore”.
I will catch grizzly bears with my bare hands!!
