Oregonians and their Bicycles

The other day I saw a woman riding her bicycle down the street. This, in itself, is not that atypical of anyone anywhere. What made the experience somewhat hilarious was that in her bicycle’s water bottle holder was not a water bottle but a coffee cup complete with spill resistant cap and thermally insulative cozy.

I think this is a type of incident that is more likely in the Pacific Northwest, though perhaps I just don’t know New England bicyclists well enough.

I have a co worker who rides his bike to work every day that weather permits, and he always has a Dunkin Coffee in his water bottle holder.

    Yup. I’m here until Friday.

We’re actually climbing Mt. St. Helens tomorrow, it should be pretty sweet.

Personally, I am more inclined to go with this.

The main reason I decided to teach myself to ride my bike with no hands two years ago (with success! now I can ride a mile with no hands) was because on a trip to Portland I saw a kid riding his stylish single speed bike with no hands…HOLDING A DINING ROOM CHAIR IN FRONT OF HIM
