1) When my sister was little she thought the word episcopalian was actually: “a piece of alien.”
2) When Jesse’s cousin Adam was brought to a Chinese restaurant his dad gave him Teriyaki steaks. He got home and excitedly told his mom: “Dad let me have Pterodactyl Snakes!”
Ha!
Do you have any fun stories of little kid mispronunciations?
I called Cookie Monster “icky moe-no” when I first started talking.
one of my aunts found a recipe for a “Coffee Strudel Ring” (which is pure delicious by the way), my cousin Kierran called it “rocking king”, and my family has called it that ever since.
Well, the full story regarding the piece of alien thing goes like this: It’s 5th grade, I’m asking my new best friend what religion she is. She’s like “episcopalian” and I thought she said “a piece of alien” and I was like, “no, really, what are you?” and she was like “episcopalien”. This happened again, and again, and finally I was like, “I’m trying to have a serious conversation! Stop telling me you’re a piece of alien!!” And then it all came clear. Turns out I had never heard of episcopalian, so I didn’t have any sense of what she was saying. :)
Grilled cheese = Girl cheese. Why was there no boy cheese growing up?
ha ha! such a great story!
My nearly-7-year-old(birthday is on Tuesday) likes A-1 steak sauce on her steak. She still sometimes calls it “snake” sauce.
And the angel, who is 3, calls mac and cheese “pepperoni and cheese”. She also has her own words to Deck the Halls, which she sings year round.
Our stories are more about tricky words being mispronounced. Guinea pig: guin-ne-a pig. Piccolo: Pickolio
My parents had this huge grey Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera when I was young. I couldn’t really pronounce Oldsmobile (4 consonants in a row??) so I just called it Old-Slow-Mobile.
