Joanna told me to go to VooDoo doughnuts while I was here in Portland. The place is really strange. Really strange.
The doughnuts are even stranger. This is what I got:
Delicious? Yes. Sugar explosion? Also yes.
I couldn’t finish the whole thing. It was so powerful – like a sugar avalanche in my mouth.
I actually can’t believe you managed to eat even part of it. Or that you picked that one. It’s probably a good thing that jogging happened later.
That looks delicious.
If you bring one home for me I’ll eat it. Actually…I’ll eat three in one sitting.
A friend of mine lives there and told some stories about their “special” doughnuts, such as a Pepto-bismal doughnut, if I recall. Not sure if those still exist. :) Also, I got a laugh out of what you are currently eating: “not that doughnut.” Nice.
When I was in Portland over the summer, I got dragged to voodoo doughnuts as well. I had the one with cocoa puffs on it. We later went back and bought an entire box to share.
how much longer are you there?
Alas! I am no longer there. I have continued my journey. Now I’m in Ohio.
Portland to Ohio – what a let down.
Go to Powell’s Books?
I did! We explored the technical store and then searched for the crafts section. The store was big.
alarmingly big.
yuuuummm – when I went I have to admit I just stuck to my favorite standby, the chocolate frosted
Oh, is that a peanut butter and chocolate covered doughnut? Sob.
*mouth watering* Do they ship to Wisconsin?
That delicious explosion is called “Banana fritter with chocolate chips, peanut butter and peanuts”. It’s a banana fritter making love with chocolate and peanut butter in your mouf :o) Voodoo doughnut works 24 hours a day. We regularly pick doughnuts at 2 am when we leave the club.
