Thinking about the arts and cultural expression is cool, especially when you consider the backdrop, and the culture in which these arts have been developed. When it comes to cultural influences, the psychologist in me emerges and I like to think about cross-cultural differences. We generally think about differences between western and eastern world views, but I like to consider regional differences within the united states. Are you aware of the “Culture of Honor” that dominates the south of our country? The idea is that retaliation and aggressive responses to perceived insults are more common in the south. This possibly a lingering result of herding lifestyles that required fierce competition rather than farming lifestyles.
