On December 10th, 2006, I was talking to someone when they claimed that “Without a doubt, Israel would nuke Iran within the next six months.”
Well, I really dislike people who make grand claims about the future in such an absolute manner… especially if I think that they are biased and not considering all sides of a story.
so I made a note on my calendar for June 10th, 2007:
“Was Iran nuked by Isreal?” I wrote in quiet red ink.
While there are still nine days left for this person’s proclamation to come true, I think it’s pretty unlikely. My problem is that I didn’t write down WHO the person was who made this fantastic claim. So when June 10th comes… I don’t know whose face it needs to be rubbed in.
For those of you who like to disprove wild beliefs, I would recommend checking out: FutureMe.org. It’s a website that allows you to send yourself an e-mail at a specific date in the future. Just be sure that you include all the details… like WHO it was who made the ridiculous claims, when, and why.
If you like that, you should check out the Long Now Foundation’s project for Long Bets.

I almost made the same bet that Ted Danson (of cheers fame) made, and I would have won!
