WEEKEND

This weekend can go down in the record books as “really sweet”

Saturday night was Double Dutch 2006 v2.0. Caitlin took some photos which you can find here.

We had a huge turn out. About 20 jumpers stopped by for excessive jumping action.
HIGHLIGHTS:
Ryan Schenk’s vault over TimBaird into the fury of ropes
Nicole on Jay’s Shoulders, jumping single rope
Danielle jumping single rope inside bigger jumping ropes
My getting in, and holding the Double Dutch for a solid 15-20 seconds
Bisol’s Dbl Dutch entrance pose
Infinity’s double dutch debut
Jon Abad’s track suit
Ben’s music and Joe Havelick’s truck
Pushup jumprope
Katrina. Just in general.
Tom & Mykal’s timed entrance attempts into the two rope craze
Cupcakes.
Single Rope Swingers entrance swings

And so much more.

if you’re reading this, and did NOT attend DD2006v2.0, don’t worry. The next one will be in April.

Sunday was spent cooking with Tom, Mykal, and Mandy. We made homemade ravioli. The sauce was epic. EPIC.

And yesterday I went to Alicia’s performance with the FIREBIRD ENSEMBLE. Violin, Viola, Chello, Flute, Bass Clarinet, Piano, and Drums — covering Rock and Roll music. There was disturbed. There was Rage Against the Machine. There was a flute solo that put Anchorman to SHAME. SHAAAAME. I am going to go to more of their shows. this is certain. And they should put out a CD. I would buy it in a second.

I left the place after my mom won me two hamburger patties. Rumor has it that Kurt, who went to the show right after us, also won a prize.

It was a wonderful weekend. Thanks to everyone who participated.

It was fun… and I can’t say I was convinced up front that it would be. Shame on me.

I think I enjoyed Ruth and I trying to do the whole jump the rope you’re spinning trick… I even did it once… mostly.

Mr. D: I was hoping to see an MSPaint valentine today. I have a MSPaint valentine that I’ve been using for 6 years now.

YES!!! THE MEAT REIGNS SUPREME!! I did indeed win the Meat prize MikeD. But I have a feeling yours is not as cool as mine. I got the entire Ensemble to sign my meat. Thats right. We also had a different instrument in my performance. Kurt’s Shoulder. At one point AliciaD broke into a rousing percussion solo on my massive right shoulder. Unfortunately all the muscle that pads my shoulder worked like a sound absorbing sponge, and most people didn’t hear the musical genius that it was. It brought me to tears.
As to the show. WOW! I too would buy a CD if the Firebirds were to release one. Highlights of the show include the song with the Flute, Viola(?), and Coffee Grinder. The mystical solo that AliciaD performed, somehow she got music to come out of the flute and then she was singing all the while. What?!?! Who does that? AliciaD, thats who. Freebird was fantastic. Rage against the machine was also performed, Bravo to the kid who arranged it. Oh and the food. WOW. Best Sausage ever. What did you get MikeD? I got the Memphis Ribs with sausage.
And for those of you that drink beer. They have quite and extensive beer list, with a “Beer Wheel of Indecision”. I’m looking at Jon and Ben here. Passing out on the T was also fun. All in all a great night!

You got your meat Signed? DARN IT. I’m jealous!

We had a table of four: Me, Mandy, my sis Tree, and her boyfriend Andrew.

So we ordered the EASY TO ORDER FOR FOUR.
    it included:
St. Louis Ribs, Half a Chicken, Pulled Pork, a giant bowl of beans, A QT of coleslaw, cornbread, and rolls.

It was delicious. Props to REDBONES in davis square for their greatness.

Kurt, I don’t know about you, but I think that we should start a Firebird Ensemble fan club. I’d join. I can’t WAIT for the next Firebird Gig. It was beyond amazing. or as some might say: Beyomazing.

yeah, that flute solo was SICK. Alicia was totally BEAT BOXING while playing the flute. It’s the kind of thing that makes you smile so wide that you have trouble stuffing more ribs into your mouth. I wish I had it on video for MikeDiDonato.com… but alas, I do not.

I couldn’t believe it when they started up Freebird. Whaaa? who was expecting that!?!

Best live music performance I’ve ever witnessed.

I don’t see anything wrong with that plan mikeD. I would also not be opposed to a group gathering at Redbones in the near future. Everyone should experience the greatness.

*AHEM* Beer wheel of indecision? For the love of god, why didn’t one of you call me. Kurt I’ll go to Redbones with you.
Mike, FE sounds pretty interesting, although Brandeis doesn’t really.
I might be interested in going however. If something can even approach inhibiting your need to stuff your face, it’s gotta be in the top 5 greatest things EVER.

I’m sorry Sander, Redbones is in the center of a nice little area, Davis Square actually. And we know we can’t take you to nice places. So that answers that.

Clearly I will be going to redbones… it’s down the street from my new digs, on my way to and from work.

In fact, I say whoever ends up helping me move, we will provide redbones bbq for delicious nourishment.

Hell, we definately need to go to this place but not till I move… so that gives us one month to decide.

Also, if you help me move on April 1st, I will provide free redbones deliciousness for your trouble. And beer.

I’m sick of references to that thing already.
Ben I might help you move. But don’t be surprised if I accidentally drink a lot of beer, end up (semi-jokingly) hitting on Trina, and she puts me through a wall.

I can’t promise anything until like a few days before, as work is constantly all “you have to go to ” a few days in advance.
Kurt, someday I’m going to poison some of your food. You won’t know when, or how, but it’s going to be nasty.

Its been tried. It doesn’t work. I can’t be killed by conventional means. The way my body metabolizes Fat in my system has produced and immpenetrable layer of fat below my skin. no worries Infinity! I’m sorry ‘creepman 5000’ made a move on you. That’s sketch. I’m also sorry that Double Dutch resulted in feelings of awkwardness for you as you knew very few of the folks in attendence. Next time, we need to get you in the ropes. For once you step into the spotlight, you become a member of the double dutch family and all akwardness will disolve.
