I started taking guitar lessons with a new instructor this past Tuesday. He’s helping me in this 2006: year of music. My goal? to play a show before the end of the year, and to be able to wail on the guitar.
Part of my musical homework this week is to come up with a preliminary set list. If you have any song suggestions feel free to leave them in the comments.
we also need a name for our band. Again. suggestions are welcome.
The Band of Rock?
Any of the following:
Limp Biscuit
Lincoln Park
Corn
The Deaf Tones
The Beetles
These band names will appeal to fans of spelling. They are a dedicated group.
I recommend that you cover “Two Points For Honesty”.
Just kidding. (inside joke)
Band names, eh? How about “The S.C.M.O.D.S.”?
wow, that’s really good. I’ll suggest it to the others.
ha ha. nice. I was thinking
Pb Zepplin.
S.C.M.O.D.S?
Scientific Cultural Modest Orange Destroyer Society?
You should definitely learn The Stooges – Fun House and have your dad play the sick sax part.
State County Municipal Offender Data System.
Don’t you know your Blues Brothers?
You should cover Soul Coughing’s “Soft Serve”.
You should cover White Lion – When the Children Cry and name your band The Inkless Squids
I’ve thought about this more and recommend the following songs:
Fat Bottom Girls by Queen
White Man’s World by Tupac (which opens with the words “do you know how hard it is to be a black women is this white man’s world?”)
Girls Just Want to Have Fun by Cindy Lauper
Faithfully by Journey
Seventeen by Winger
Treat Her Like a Prostitute by Slick Rick
U.G.L.Y by Fishbone
and Panama by Van Halen
you’ll bring the house down.
oh, and definately close on Dancing Queen by Donna Summer
Alas. I DON’T know the blues brothers. I’ve never seen the movie.
Don’t worry ben. your suggestions will not go unheard.
Blasphemy! This lack should be remedied in the “Year of Music”, without a doubt.
How about you do the following songs (“Best of the Past”):
– Ramen VS. Couscous
– The Peanut Song (“I want to end you, you salty midget.”)
– The Water Song (“Water: I like to drink it.”)
– Zsa Zsa Zsa
– The Mega Man 3 Opening Theme
– Emilio Estevez
Also, the Rockapella version of “Where In The World Is Carmen Sandiego”.
Also, “Mexico” by Incubus.
Who’s in the band?
Do you need a token “non-musical” member?
Do you need a roadie?
Right now it’s myself (guitar), Jesse (bass), and Mike Pindar (drums). TimBaird has informed me that he’ll be the photographer. Roadies are always welcome.
I’d also like to have a few horns that could jump in now and again for an exciting mariachi tribute.
these are just my thoughts.
oh oh oh, can you play Silent Lucidity by Queensryche???!!!!!!!!!!
For a band name, my first thought, keeping with the Rock theme, was Falling Rock but that sounds negative. What about Rising Rock? or Rock Rising? Burning Rock? Flaming Rock? Lava Rock?
LAVA ROCK. that’s good.
In light of recent internet awesomeness, I propose the band name of “Crazy Delicious”.
And yes, I will contribute my photographic abilities to this endeavor.
You should film a version of your Carmen team singing it, karaoke style, and send it to me. I’ll post it in the final Carmen Sandiego post.
