Friends. I think I would like to pursue Kite Boarding.
It’s essentially wake boarding while being pulled by a kite instead of a boat. Please check out the videos and the information about lessons here.
If you’d like to try it, you would have to be willing to really go for it. The first three lessons and the gear would likely flirt with $1000.00.
you probably wouldn’t have to fully decide until after the first lesson, which would cost between 150 and 200 dollars. Please comment if you are interested.
We would definitely come watch. But I think we’re sticking with windsurfing for now. We’re finally looking into getting our own equipment, now we just need to figure out real ocen places that are good to windsurf at.
forget lessons, ryan schenk will teach you, he’s a good kiteboarder and he has gear.
No way! Ryan Schenk is awesome! I’m going to have to use all of my convincing power to convince him to teach me the ways.
Powers to convince him?
Please. All you gotta do is draw some X’s on your hands with a sharpie, throw on a dirty carhart hoodie, and walk up to him and be like “hey fellow hater of all things established, how about you and me go eat some tofu and kiteboard” and you’re in. Trust me.
um, Ryan isn’t straight edge.
All you gotta do is say “Ryan, i want to learn to kiteboard” and he’ll flip out. Trust me.
Totally.
we shall see. I’ve tried to leave messages for him on every type of media.
I will keep you updated.
Mike, don’t you already do enough activities??
Mike,
When you guys plan some sort of educational kiteboard day down the cape (assumed location), let me know, I’d like to give it a try too.
Mike D.’s best bet is to take a lesson initially. This is not because I am incapable of teaching him, it is because if Mike D. dies, I don’t want to be the one responsible!@! I might be giving kite flying lessons on the Cape soon, and once Mike D takes a lesson, I will gladly go with him and give him helpful kiteboarding hints.
You must master flying a small kite, else you will KILL YOURSELF with a properly-sized kiteboarding kite. I am not kidding.
That last post was confusing. What I meant to say was that I might be teaching Mike D how to fly a smaller kite that mimics the way a kitesurfing kite behaves in the air. Once good at the kite, then go take a kitesurfing lesson where they give you a big kite and a board and teach you how to ride them. After your lesson there is plenty of learning left, which is where I take over.
