Deep Space!

One of the guys here figured out how to apply images to the background of our 3D modeling software. now, I’m proud to say that all my models will be generated in deep space.

StarScape!

My job just got 10 times cooler.

Well, I have 15 minutes before I have to go play in the “highly suggested” department kickball game (with pay!). I think I’ll see if I can get CATIA to do the same…

I’m not going to lie. For the first five minutes with my new background, I learned how to use my 3-D puck to fly my welder through space like a shuttlecraft. I’m now proficient at making my welder appear to go into warp as well as fly numerous turning maneuvers within my screen.

It’s like Hollywood for the mechanical 3-D modeling engineer.

…These are the voyages of the starship Welderprise. Its continuing mission, to render bold new 3d-thingies.

By the way, your wp topsites icon sucks. The transparency of the png cannot be handled by mspaint and ends up being grey. Feel free to grab mine – it’ll look loads better with your white background. I don’t know why I let little things like that bug me. I just can’t stand when logos are used improperly.

Good call Jefte. I fixed it and added a self proclaiming ‘vote for me’ underneath. Do you like it better this way?

Ok, I’m back from kickball. It’s fun to peg your boss as he’s trying to get to third base…

I haven’t figured out in CATIA to do the image, but I have played around and pretended to command my part as if it is a spaceship.

Here, we even have something called a spaceball (http://www.3dconnexion.com/spaceball5000.htm) to use, which makes flying around all the more fun. If only I could get your space background with my spaceball!

Actually Patrick, I do, in fact, use the spaceball 4000FLX. And it provides me with EXTREME control over the mobility of my flying welder. Extreme.

    Spaceballs rock.

Actually, now that I see it on your page it looks kinda jagged. The original sucked as-is. I may redo the whole button soon anyway. The new wp logo is close to final.
