Why do we call it the Czech Republic? Every other country* out there just goes by its name without any other word after it. It seems like the Czechs have it too formal…

Exceptions: Democratic Republic of the Congo (not to be confused with the Congo– two different countries), Central African Republic, which I suppose could go by just Central Africa, and Domincan Republic (not to be confused with Dominica– two different countries).

UUIG and I play certain games in the car, most notably the “slug bug” game, but only with the old Beetles and VW vans. Seattle has a significant amount of older vee-dubs, especially around my neighborhood, which is home to the types of people who would own such vehicles. The 3-minute walk to the pub always results in some punching.

Another game that UUIG and I play is the “Mike D Rocks” game, but this really isn’t a city game. Whenever we drive out in the mountains, whoever sees a “ROCKS” sign first, shouts out “Mike D”, and other has to follow with “ROCKS” before we reach the sign.

It’s bright and early here at MikeD-NW, and I’m eating Pop Tarts at my desk.

Question: who puts Pop Tarts in the toaster anymore?

I haven’t in ages.

I’ve heard that some people eat them frozen, too.
