I have started reading a few new books. The Justice book that I last wrote about (Representing Justice) was good enough to encourage me to seek more books on Justice. That coupled with a convenient trip to Connecticut’s infamous Book Barn resulted in my buying the book ‘Justice’ by Michael Sandel. So far it has been a pleasant philosophical walk down the road of righteousness.
Simultaneously, I am getting my fiction kick with the second book in the Name of the Wind series by Pstrick Rothfuss.
Anyone else enjoying some summer reading this season?
I’ve been reading a bunch of history books… boring.
But you’re going to be sad when you get through that Rothfuss book and realize it’s a trilogy with only two books so far. Two pretty great books, but you’ll want the third :-)
The Rook – Think Xmen meets Beurocracy….In England!
Ready Player One – Easy read with tons of 80’s references….In the Internet!
Bitter Seeds / The Coldest War(<–Due out 7/17/12) – Book 2 of Nazi Xmen vs British Warlocks….In the 1960's!
Monster – Supernatural Pest Removal Specialist….In a city!
The Iron Druid Chronicles – 4 books so far of a 2k year old Druid, with interesting takes on Mythological Beings….In Arizona!
Mercury Falls/Mercury Rises – Religion meets beuracracy….In Heaven!
and this one is a little older..
The Passage – Interesting Vampire concept book….In a Post-Apocalyptic Future!
Ex-Heroes – Super Heroes fight Zombies….In Hollywood!
Stop reading your boring Justice books! There is plenty of Justice in the books I jsut mentioned. Most are good reads, and fast! a few are great reads and you'll be dying for more (Totally agree with Ben on that Name of the Wind/Wise Man's Fear)
Or you could join the cult and start reading the Malazan Book of the Fallen! a 10 book epic story that is completed! Some notable people who are currently reading it; Ben, Micah, Natalie Portman, Kurt, The McQuaid, Batman. Don't miss out!
I’ve been reading Red Mars. I like it a lot, but I seem to spend my baby free time doing chores and wasting my time on the internet, so I’ll be finishing this book in, I dunno like another year (I’ve been reading it since last summer). Someday I’d like to get back to finishing more than half a book a year.
If you liked The Time Traveler’s Wife, you may enjoy The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake by Aimee Bender.
Yo. Summer of the apocalypse? Hope you can get to it soon. It’s awesome!
