Quick Chicago Recap

My Chicago trip last week definitely had its ups and downs. The highlight, without any doubt, was dinner at the Signature room in the Hancock tower.

Chicago from above

Admittedly, some of the steaks I’ve had in Texas were better than the filet I had at the Signature room, but nothing could compare with the ridiculous view of Chicago. It was a wonderful first experience at the restaurant.

There was a second first that night: I tried eating an oyster. Here’s a tip for the first timer oyster eater: don’t go for the slurp method. I went for the slurp and was caught off-guard by the slippery nature of these creatures. The oyster fell halfway down my throat right in the gag-reflex zone. The result was undesirable.

At much prodding from my peers, I tried a second oyster but this time used a fork. In this manner I was able to experience the new food without an unfamiliar consumption technique inhibiting my eating. As for the tastiness? One of my coworkers said it best: I will eat Oysters, but I don’t seek them out.

As for the signature room, I strongly recommend it!

I take most of my out of town guests to the Signature Room. The cost of a cocktail is cheaper than the cost of the observatory at the Hancock and Sears Tower, and the views are the same!

Been there as well – pretty awesome spot!

Yeah, some reading before the trip and we had the same advice. The drinks may be $15, but it’s really a $10 view and a $5 drink.
