Firstly, I read this really interesting article by Albert Camus this morning. It’s a commentary on Sisyphus and I think it’s a really optimistic article, even given its roots in absurdism. I recommend it highly. If anyone has any other recommendations for great stuff to read by Camus, please leave a comment in the comments!
Secondly, I think there’s a fair chance I got poison ivy on my head. How irritating!
Fun fact: The scientific name Toxicodendron Radicans means something along the lines of: Poisonous Tree Root (Creeper). Dun dun dun! This means poison ivy isn’t an ivy at all!!! Wikipedia supports this, noting that ivies are classified under genus Hedera.
On the west coast, there’s Poison Oak instead of ivy. We don’t have much of it in Washington, but any time I go racing in northern California, it’s a big hazard if you’re allergic.
Poison ivy/oak/sumac reactions are the worst. To make matters even more annoying, your sensitivity to them generally only increases with exposure. And, if you are really lucky, it will include the exterior of mangoes (MANGOES!!) as well.
So basically, I can’t ever handle mangoes now.
