Hey guess what! It’s my 30th birthday on Wednesday. 30! Let’s take a gander at the last 30 years and bring out some highlights. (disclaimer, with a birthday in June, some of the ages below might be wrong. I don’t know what month a lot of these things happened – just the year.)
1981- age 0: Born. Kindly in time for my mother to still watch her favorite soap: Days of our Lives.
~1983 – age 2: Realized my sisters had names and that it was impolite to call them both “lettuce”
1988 – age 7: Disney World – awesome mickey mouse pancakes made up for being shafted on the pedal boats. Too short to drive? What the crap Disney?
1989 – age 8: Won a poetry contest with a poem about dinosaurs (obviously).
~1994 – age 13: Little league – struck out Bobby Poledo. It was epic.
1997 – age 16: Got license despite revving the crap out of the car during the test.
1998 – age 17: SATs. I don’t remember anything about the test except that Dad D made me an awesome breakfast that morning.
1999 – age 18: Graduated high school. Won same award as Theresa for good character – proud moment.
1999 – age 18: Upgraded the hairdo to a primitive form of today’s style.
2000 – age 19: Got first guitar.
2002 – age 21: Copenhagen, skydiving, european backpack trip
2003 – age 22: So Tired Concert at WPI. Huge success.
2004 – age 22: 8 of Bass concert. London trip. College Graduation.
2004 – age 23: Dawn of MikeDiDonato.com
2004 – age 23: Purchase of the House of Rock.
2005 – age 24: Marathon.
2006 – age 25: First trip to China
2007 – age 26: First Roller Derby experience
2008 – age 26: MikeDiDonato.com 720 insanity.
2009 – age 27: Degrees = complete
2009 – age 28: Trip to Ukraine
2010 – age 29: Black belt complete.
2011 – age 30…
What should my goal be for this age? This decade? Any ideas?
Have a beer. That is all.
Mayhaps.
How about some sort of grand vacation, something super thrilling like Mike D. goes to a volcano, or Mike D. goes to the southern hemesphere and sees all those stars you can’t see up here, or Mike D. goes someplace to see the Northern lights, or Mike D. goes to all the National Parks in CA (or Mykal R. lists all her dream vacations in this comment).
Hmmm. I like it. Brainstorming has begun.
In my driving school, proper engine revving technique and tactics will be required.
E-brake turn!
I think you’d improve your life a lot if you lost weight.
Achievable goals Sander. Achievable goals.
Happy birthday!
Thanks!
2011 age 30 – Began calling my sisters ‘lettuce’ again
Ha ha ha! That’s hilarious!
