New Years Resolution? Vanquished.

One of my New Years Resolutions this year was to try and beat everyone else by accomplishing their resolution first.

Example
My Sister Theresa’s Resolution: make homemade bagels.

Bam! Resolutioned!

Take that Theresa!

My other New Years Resolution was to get a slightly better hold on my finances, in part by refinancing the House of Rock. I’m proud to report that the closing went down last night. I’m dropping from a six and something interest rate to a much more manageable 4.875%. I decided to keep my payment plan the same, but dropped to a 20 year mortgage. That means an additional $300 per month will apply itself towards the principle. Awesome!

Next up?

Mom D’s Resolution: Reduce clutter by throwing out one thing a day.

This weekend I’m going to throw out 365.25 things.

Please tell me you aren’t going to cheat by throwing away like 365.25 screws, or something like that. Also does this only apply to Family Oriented Resolutions.

Homemade bagels, totally worth the effort. Did you mix up any exciting toppings? Tom created the best cream cheese blend consisting of cream cheese, peppadews and green olives, it is amazing.

I did not try any crazy toppings this time around, though I’m sure I’ll make more bagels in the future. They were definitely delicious right out of the oven, though I think I have to play with the recipe a bit to try and get them to fluff up a bit more.

      Any suggestions for more fluff?

I personally don’t feel bagels should be fluffy, they are supposed to be a bit dense and moist bread, but at the same time they shouldn’t be bricklike or anything. Can you just let them rise a bit longer for a lighter density? Whose recipe did you use? I’ve been going with “Jo Goldenberg’s bagels” from Bernard Clayton, which is a traditional jewish Paris bakery recipe.

Hahaha! Mike, you’re hilarious. My resolution was to clean the kitchen every night and make the bed every morning. So far it’s not going too well.

Since CT is three hours ahead of Oregon, it should be easy for me to defeat you on this one.

Hmm. This is a little tough. I was going to lower rent for all my residents, but I guess I can take on this challenge and instead keep it unchanged.

I don’t think Shaun’s resolution is not the CHANGE rent. I think it is not to CHARGE rent. My other resolution was to buy myself a new car.
