Cars! Mittens!

After a week of pretty wretched* sleeping, including 3.5 hrs of awkward sleep Sunday into Monday, last night’s 7 hours and 11 minutes of bliss set me back on track. I have no immediate explanation for the recent chasm of sleeplessness, but these things happen once in awhile and you just gotta take ’em in stride.

SO! Now that I’m feeling a bit more alive, let’s whip up some updates:

The Car:

Thank you dear readers, you were correct in your assessment of my vehicle’s ailment. I spent an hour or so on Sunday with a Haynes manual and a set of metric wrenches and managed to dig my way to the ellusive Idle Air Control Valve. It was not clogged with carbon build up as I’d hoped, but with my multimeter and the simple steps of diagnosis described in the Haynes manual I was able to determine that the valve is definitely busted. Now that I have figured out how to get to the ICV, I’m thinking about just snagging another one from a nearby salvage yard and replacing it myself. Thanks to all of you helpful car people. I owe you all a cup of coffee.

My Mittens

Did I already tell you about my mittens?!?! Last year Vivienne knitted a Fiddlehead style hat for me for Christmas. This year, she went beyond the call of friendship and completed my set with a pair of Fiddlehead mittens. She was going to give them to me for Christmas, but being a practical lady she gave them to me in advance knowing I could using them in the pre-Christmas months.

Prepare yourself to appreciate Vivienne’s masterful work:

Mittens!

The inside of the mittens? Red.

Red!

How awesome are these? Extremely. I have never been so excited with anticipation for the winter months.

Thank you Vivienne!!!

The Page!

Lastly, I finally got Lightbox working again. You may have noticed that now, when you click on a picture link it pops up in a really convenient showcase window. Special thanks to wordpress for making updates easier than anticipated.

*my speckled sleeplessness pales compared to the crushing exhaustion experienced by the likes of Shamus or Shaun McQuaid whose baby-full worlds have forced a redefinition of the word sleep.

I love the mitten pattern! I was just this morning feeling the need to get out my gloves for driving in the morning (frost on the car).

Also what are you talking about of course people with newborns get 8 hours of sleep a night, LALALALALA I can’t hear you.
