I love beautiful architecture. I’m subscribed to a bunch of architecture and design RSS feeds and today’s post over at materialicious really blew me away.
It’s the Goldstone residence in Georgia as designed by Dencity Design.
Look at this place!
The house was designed for Larry Goldstone who is the CEO of Thrornburg Mortgage, a residential mortgage company that filed for chapter 11 protection in May and is currently going through the process of ceasing business altogether. All speculation of salaries and compensation aside, the house is beautiful. According to Design Milk Goldstone was looking for a residence where every room had a view. Additionally, Design Milk reports:
Larry was very specific about what he wanted. He had pages and pages of things he had researched. And he said, “Whatever you do, there can’t be any white!â€
For additional pictures go here. Take note of the totally awesome bedroom and, the only part of the place I don’t like: the kitchen. I just don’t feel that the kitchen has the same appeal as the rest of the rooms, though perhaps it’s just the angle of the photograph.

On the subject of “views” – the photo on your site looked as if the home were in a neighborhood, and I thought, “well, that can’t be, because the man wanted a VIEW from every room.” At that point I thought he meant a beautiful, nature-filled, wilderness-like VIEW. It does, however, look as if he meant he wanted to see out of every area of the house. The pool view is lovely, the view of the house across the street….not so much, though it appears to be a nice home, just not the view I expected.
The kitchen is very stark. Perhaps there is awesomeness hidden in the cabinets that fill that right hand wall…
100% agree with the view point of view, mom d. This house is GORGEOUS. I even like the kitchen (but maybe that’s just because I’m used to my own…), but it appears to be built in “any random suburb” smacked up against its neighboring houses… That’s a FAIL in my book.
What would be especially cool is if the architect managed to work the angles of those windows so it was passive solar!
