Bone Marrow!

I got my bone marrow registration kit this weekend. It was extremely easy to take and send in the samples.

The kit consisted of a packet with which I could enclose my swabs, directions, bar codes (specially assigned to me), and a return envelope.

The kit.

The directions were very simple. Put the bar codes on the swabs, swab the inside of your cheek, put the swab into their holders, and mail back.

There were a total of four swabs. They will take these samples and figure out if I happen to have a matching marrow to someone who is in need.

If I am a match with someone, then they’ll let me know and I might be in for a few days of discomfort, but it’d all be worth it if someone can be saved by my participation in the program.

and it’s done.

So far, a very simple process. I’ll let you know as (if) the next step in bone marrow registry takes place. If you’d like more information on bone marrow donation, check out Marrow dot org. Here.
