Universe Today

I just signed up for a new RSS feed for UniverseToday

One of the things on their blog right now is this:

magiceyescience.PNG

Apparently some dude took a look at the Cat’s Eye Nebula and through careful scientific research figured out the approximate distance of each feature of the nebula. Then he converted it into a magic eye. GENIUS. What’s also cool is that he made the image in two different ways. The first (top image) is for those people that like doing magic eye by looking past the picture. The bottom one is for people who prefer to cross their eyes.

Note: Magic eye’s work best when they don’t require significant eye manipulation. This one has the two images really far apart. I found that my eyes got a bit sore after looking for a little while.

I have never, NEVER been able to do these illusion games. Is there some kind of brain disorder for my predicament? I’d like to see a post on that for all us poor souls who cannot manage to see the “supposed” pretty pictures within the actual picture.
