I’ll be retrieving my satin Kung Fu instructor uniform this week.
On it will be embroidered the words “Sihing Mike D.” in gold. When I get it, I’ll take pictures.
In Cantonese, Si means ‘teacher’ and Hing means ‘brother’.

Added bonus:
Women instructors are referred to as Sijehs. Jeh means sister in Cantonese.
Of course, when I read this, I thought your satin Kung Fu uniform read “Shining Mike D.” which would be a little….strange.
This made me laugh out loud.
I thought the same thing, Shaun, so you’re not the only weirdo…
Count me a third.
I misread it as well, but I read it as “sighing”.
must be a “jes” thing. i too read sighing. i think none of us are weird though. i think the word sihing is really bizarre to people who don’t speak Cantonese…
I keep miss reading it as “singing”
