A Question of Delish.

I like peanut butter. Heck, I love peanut butter.

But the fat content is pretty darn high. So awhile ago I decided to try a reduced fat peanut butter. First I went for Skippy. But it tasted of gross. Jiff was next. Also bad. And then we sampled the store brand.

Somehow, the ShopRite folks seems to have gotten it just right. This stuff is epic. If slathered on some country wheat bread, it’s heaven.

Absolute heaven.

Remember when you left that jar of peanut butter to rot on my kitchen counter? I still have not forgiven you.

Yeah, peanut butter has alot of fat, but its good fact, poly/mono unsaturated fat. At least the type without hydrogenated oils.
I reckon you are better off sticking with peanut butter that is made from strictly peanuts and salt than some lab experiment with god knows what chemicals.
All Natural Teddy PB all the way!

hell yeah, the only kind of peanut butter for me is the kind that’s made from actual peanuts and nothing else.

Here’s an ingredient list from JIF light peanut butter (shoprite, shockingly, doesn’t have it online) :

    ngredients
PEANUTS, CORN SYRUP SOLIDS, SUGAR AND SOY PROTEIN, CONTAINS 2 PERCENT OR LESS OF: FULLY HYDROGENATED VEGETABLE OILS (RAPESEED AND SOYBEAN), SALT, MONO- AND DIGLYCERIDES, MOLASSES, NIACINAMIDE, FOLIC ACID, PYRIDOXINE HYDROCHLORIDE, MAGNESIUM OXIDE, ZINC OXIDE, FERRIC ORTHOPHOSPHATE, AND COPPER SULFATE.

    Weird.

Peanut Butter in my fridge lists:

    Ingredients: Dry Roasted Peanuts

This is from the MSDS for pyridoxine hydrochloride:

    Chronic Exposure:
Usually nontoxic; however, chronic administration of large dosages* has been associated with adverse neurologic effects.

    * large dosage = a slathering on a piece of bread daily.

    Watch out, Mike D.

Skippy? Jiff? Shoprite store brand? Why don’t you just wipe the insides of a slimy dumpster with your piece of bread. Like previous posters exclaimed, Teddie peanut butter all the way! http://www.teddie.com/ (Stop and Shop actually makes a natural peanut butter too. It’s dece)
