Check out the percentages though! 30% isn’t raining all day, that’s like a storm in the morning/evening. I’d bet that it gets stormy at night, but is just super-muggy and hot all day.
Yes! I don’t know why the icon always shows “rain” when the percentages are less than 50%. It’s so stupid! If rain was a class, that’s not even a passing grade! If it’s 30% chance of rain, doesn’t that mean that it’s probably not going to rain? And therefore shouldn’t the icon be a sun? Duh!
Once you jump to the bad conclusion at that point, that is waaay beyond pessimism. If a pessimist says the glass is half-empty, the weather folks are such mega-downers that their glasses are 30% empty.
No, because if at some point it’s going to rain, knowing that is more important than knowing that at some point it’s going to be sunny. Think about it, would you rather be caught in the sun wearing a jacket and carrying an umbrella, or caught in the rain wearing just a tshirt and shorts?
Maybe if you stand outside all day. But I don’t do that. I want to know the odds that precipitation will occur during a 24 hour period, and if so when. Not percentage of the day during which rain will probably occur. That’s what the hourly forecast is for.

My plants! QUICK, GET THEM OUT OF THE HEAT

I agree with Roland.

I thought that was what the % above was – the percentage chance that at some point in the day it will rain.
Yeah, I guess what I’m saying is I prefer the hourly forecast? The day is too long to be general about it.
30% rain in Houston means that at some point during the day its going to rain really hard. And then stop.
80% means get your ark ready because we’re all screwed.
how long are you in Houston for?
Ah yeah, me too.
Alas, I left Houston this morning. But I am going to go back soon no doubt. Perhaps we can arrange a monster party.
