Queens, Names, and Beauty

Sander asked an interesting question yesterday: What is Queen Elizabeth’s last name?

So we did some research, and I don’t think she HAS one. Unless it’s “of England.” In fact, none of the Royalty of England seem to have last names. Does anyone have any insight on this?

Also, Jesse found this:
What is beauty?

So the Duke/Duchess “of Windsor” have the Windsor surname also?

Would I be correct in assuming that if Mike D. were given duke-dom, he would be Mike, Duke of Didonato?

Of course, you could technically say “Saxe-Coburg-Gotha”, as that was the family name before they changed it in WWI. Apparently you don’t want to have a German last name while fighting Germans.

Damn, you beat me to it. Yep, it’s Windsor. We have had various royal family surnames in the past, the most famous being Tudor (Henry VIII was a Tudor) and Stewart.

Well, thanks everybody for crapping all over my “royalty are like hurricanes” theory.
What is beauty? I’m not so surprised at that commercial. Did anybody ever see Oprah’s “before make-up” picture several year ago? Frickin ridiculous – looked like rotten cabbage for a face.

Anybody ever wonder what it’d be like to be royalty? All the glory, none of the responsibility, your face is on money everywhere, you’re almost completely above the law… I mean if I was a prince I’d be driving 200mph everywhere. Speaking of which, does royalty need driver’s licenses? What name is on there? I mean, what if you’re out of the country, get pulled over, and the cop sees “Princess Diana of Wales” on your license, and hasn’t heard of you.
I bet you could have him killed.
