That is an interesting statement. I did some research on the tubes, mostly Wikipedia. The West Edmonton Mall claimed the largest parking lot at 20,000 spaces. However, DWF’s central terminal parking lots comprise 28,000 spaces and then another 12,000 in their Express and Remote lots.

Some of the issues, however, are what constitutes a single parking lot? How disjointed can a parking lot be before it is two parking lots?

I removed the claim on the West Edmonton Mall’s wiki page claiming it was the largest because it was citing Guiness, but the Guiness site makes no mention of such a record. It is probably the number one contender for largest free parking, as any airport charges as would a major attraction similar to the Walt Disney World Resort.

Although, a perennial favorite of mine, Foxwoods, could be a contender. This article said they had 19,000 spots as of 2001, and they are currently expanding.

Hmm. Another piece of knowledge that will come in handy when I’m on Jeopardy.

Sadly, I believe that the world’s largest parking lot is Rte. 93, between Andover, MA and Windham, NH, on Friday evenings around 5pm. Sorry to burst your bubble.

I’m pretty sure the world’s biggest car park is the M25 (ahaha).

I got stuck in snail’s pace traffic on the way to Madison one 4th of July weekend. It might as well have been a parking lot.
