I’ll have to admit, I don’t really enjoy toostie rolls, I don’t hate them but I don’t like them. I don’t think I’ve had any since high school though… Which turns out was a long time ago now.

I like that they’re chocolate. I don’t like that they stick to my teeth. I have at least one a year, when the Knights of Columbus have their drive for the mentally challenged. I’ve always wanted to get one of those great big ones, but I like the tiny ones they throw at small children at parades.

Tootsie rolls are ok. I think it’s unfair to throw tiny ones at little kids. Small children are so lacking in dexterity that we should throw bigger ones they could actually catch.

I love tootsie rolls for multiple reasons. First of all, I do agree that you cannot deny the deliciousness of a tootsie roll, despite the fact that they stick in your teeth. Second, tootsie rolls are exciting. Why? Well, once I put a few tootsie rolls in the microwave (I think I wanted to melt them to put on vanilla ice cream…I had no other chocolate – sad day)….and discovered that they most definitely explode!! It was quite the discovery. I will admit I haven’t yet tried further experiments with this phenomenon to verify whether it was a fluke or not. Anyone else ever tried this?

Yet another delicious snackfood that we are deprived of in the UK.
On a similar topic, I was overjoyed to find Big Red chewing gum in Italy at the weekend, and bought some home. Yum.

I have never tried to melt one, but I have tried thawing frozen ones in the microwave. Did you try poking it with a fork first? By the way, the best method I’ve found for thawing a frozen tootsie roll is putting in your pocket for a while.

why were they frozen? The fork idea is definitely a good one. And random sidenote: I found a tootsie roll in my purse during my *incredibly* boring class this morning and it was pretty much awesome.

Ever try to open a tootsie roll on a hot summer day? My sister would put them in the freezer for a few minutes. Sometimes she’d forget they were there. They were fun to break and made good tootsie roll popsicles.
