Skyline 13

First off, congrats to Becky and Patrick for successfully identifying last week’s skyline as Brussels, Belgium and the satellite image as Anchoridge Alaska.

Here’s this week’s puzzle!

SKYLINE! (I think this might be one of the first night skylines we’ve used here on mikedidonato.com)

SATELLITE!

your task:

a) identify the skyline
b) is the location of the skyline the same as the location of the satellite
c) if not, identify the satellite location

Good luck!

    1. Dallas, TX
    2. I know it’s not the same as the satellite
    3. No idea.

Haven’t started on the skyline yet…

First guess on the satellite image was Queenstown, NZ. That wasn’t right (but I think it was a pretty good first guess). Then I did a quick scan of Scotland. Nope (not as good of a guess… I needed bigger mountains). Third guess was S–, and I found a match at I–. Very nice!

The skyline is Dallas. My first guess was Phoenix, and then San Antonio. I recognized this night skyline before, somewhere on live TV, and I figured that it was during the NBA playoffs. The only NBA games I ever watch are the Western Conference playoffs, so I started with cities that just had playoff teams.

Liz, the scale on my Google Maps shows 2 mi/2 km, which is also corresponds to zooming to the 8th notch down from the top. Hope this helps!
