great sleep

One of the best things in the world is laying down after some intense activity and a mighty meal*, and going to sleep.

Last night’s ultimate was a blast. We played some three on three and kept shortening the field as we got more and more exhausted. Question: is there an official field length suggested for a 3 on 3 game?

Tonight I start my advanced Dynamics class.

Perhaps you should ask the almighty McQuaid about the Ultimate Frisbee Pitch.

I believe 3-on-3 beach Ultimate is played at some (beach) tournaments. Perhaps you should check out the BULA (Beach Ultimate Lovers Association) website, as they are the official organising body for world beach Ultimate, and probably have the pitch sizes somewhere on there.

Oh, and insteadof 3-on-3 regular Ultimate, you could always try 3-on-3 Hotbox (or 4-on-4). This is played by having a square scoring zone (approx 2-3m per side)used by both teams in the middle of the ‘pitch’. You then start playing and the team on O has to pass the disc between everyone in the team before they can score. When there’s a turnover, the count of who has had the disc resets, so you have to pass it between everyone again each time you’re back on O before you can score. There are no pitch boundaries, but going more than ~10m away from the box is pretty pointless anyway.
    Optional rules:
    – As soon as the team on O scores, they can step out of the box, check the disc in, and start playing the next point straight away (although they have to pass between everyone again).
    – The inside the scoring box, it’s full-contact! (Works best in muddy conditions)

This reminds me of another 3-on-3 game that I saw on an episode of Sliders. I’ve never tried it, but I definitly think someone should start a game. It’s called Mindgame and you pass the ball around while standing on numbered squares. When you catch the ball you have to quickly answer a question like:

Name the different types of dynamic gas flow.

From the softest to hardest, what is the Moh’s scale of mineral hardness?

Name the five dinosaurs that belong to the sauropod group.

Info on the game. If I heard about someone playing this, I would totally drop everthing I’m doing in order to come. Just check out this picture!

I can’t believe remember that episode. It was the parallel Earth where intelligence was valued as much as athletic ability is here.
