Oh no, no you didn’t. No you did not.
Don’t you be talking about my babies daddy like that.
Seriously, though. I learned CAD and all things CAD on AutoCad R13. 2D is the foundation of my work and I loved it. Granted, all I do now is 3D modeling, but I still love AutoCad.
I learned with 3D (ProEngineer and SolidWorks). During my first few internships, occasionally I had to use AutoCAD. I hated it. All of the older engineers I worked with loved it, and they couldn’t do 3D so well, so I was the 3D guy for the summer.
Speaking of 3D, has anyone tried that free Google 3D modeler (SketchUp)? Is it any good?
I’ve played around making 3D models of giant robots, and it’s pretty fun. No idea how it compares to pro CAD stuff though. The tutorial videos are pretty good too.
I can figure my way through just about any program that uses a reasonably standard user interface, such as buttons and menus. At least, well enough to make a box, put some circles in it, and maybe copy and paste those circles.
As for the CAD: If I’m lucky, I can open a .dwg file without AutoCAD overriding the safety interlocks inside my computer which held back the keyboard-mounted flamethrower I didn’t know was there.
But Mike D? I’ve never seen him hate ANYTHING as much as this program. EVER. I mean usually he’s a pretty happy-go-lucky guy.
don’t worry.
it hates you too.
oh. I know. believe me. I know.

I second that. We use it soley to print technical drawings, and it is an utter pain in the arse to use.
more like AutoBAD.

P.S.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
So does this mean he hates AutoCAD more than he hates you Sander?
That may be one of the great paradoxes in the universe.
