    “facts”

    lies.

    All of it.

How often are you tricked into buying stuff Mr.MikeD?

Yes, they put wax on fruits to make them brighter not because we are mesmerized by bright colors but because that’s what fresh fruit is supposed to look like. Do they sometimes cross an ethical line on items that are less than super fresh? Yes. Do you buy that item again if you’re not satisfied with it? No.

You are no hampster but that writer is a tool.

While I’m not a huge fan of his writing style, I am very much a fan of his content. I would like to say that I am rarely tricked into buying stuff but I’m smart enough to know that other people are smarter than me (example: I sometimes buy things that are on sale regardless of my needing them).

You suggest that the quality of the product alone will help convince the buyer to buy or not buy for future purchases. I disagree. Something made you pick that product up the first time. And even if it’s an “okay” product, something might convince you to pick it up a second time. Shopping with Mark used to be exhausting because every aisle we’d walk through would result in a suggestion to buy something else that wasn’t on our list. With a high volume market like ‘food’ I would imagine that tons of research has gone into fueling the best environment for consumption. Some of it may be bologna, but I’m not sure. There’s a ton of factors that go into a decision, and who’s to say the temperature of the room isn’t one of them.

Take the study that suggested that teams that wear red win more.

While the study isn’t perfect, I think it shows that there’s a lot more going on in our minds than we are aware of.

I will do some investigation. I don’t like calling things “facts” without first confirming them as facts, and I appreciate your calling me on it. I should have written “theories” until I had more information to back it up. I’ll get back to you with that information.

The reason they put all the fruit and veg inside the entrance of supermarkets is so that when you come in you immediately think “This is a FRESH shop! Everything here is FRESH!”. If they had, say, the toilet paper right inside the entrance you’d come in and immediately think “This is a POO shop! Everything here is made of POO!”
