BlockBUSTED

This morning on the radio there was a short piece about the recent legal claims that Netflix is filing against Blockbuster. Netflix it seems feels Blockbuster’s adventures into the online movie rental industry too closely imitates Netflix’s patented business plan.

The radio featured a short audio clip from a blockbuster representative who said something like:

“Netflix is afraid of meeting us one on one in the market, where the consumer decides on the better product, so they’re taking us to court instead to try and restrict us with meritless legal actions.”

Business Trash Talk? I love it. Netflix should step right back.

“This internet stuff is too complicated for you. Know your place. Slut.”

Did you just use the word ‘Slut’? I think you’ve been hanging out with the wrong crowd MikeD. That sounds like something ben, ryan or myself would use.

Wow, in the commercial aerospace industry, there’s tons of trash talk. It’s pretty much all trash talk between the Big B in the USA and the Big A over in Europe. I don’t even know where to start…

Yeah, seriously. I read that and thought that Sander or somebody else had written. Let this go on record as the first time that MikeD has probably ever uttered the word “slut” in public.

I say in public, because I imagine that after everyone goes to bed, MikeD goes into his room, closes the sound proof door, and swears his mouth off. Like nobody’s business.

The thing i find amusing about all this is that Blockbuster has always been the runner up in all this and their online business needs to eat their retail business in order to survive.

I didn’t know you could patent a business model. That seems kind of dumb to me.

Netflix is whooping Blockbuster, why are they going to do something as stupid as this?

    And Mike, watch your mouth.

i think the use of ‘Slut’ is a step up from your safe word… ‘Whore’.

I myself am a charter member of Blockbuster, who joined to get someone a free iPod and stayed because their product was cheaper. Now they’re raising their prices to equal Netflix. It seems like they should have at least kept their prices lower if they were going to trash talk. These free rental eCoupons aren’t convincing anyone.

I am a Netflix member. I’ve tried both services, and I felt Netflix was far superior. Their lawsuit seems pretty dumb though.
