Halo?

So I had a revelation yesterday while on the plane. Prepare yourself for dorkiness. Seriously. Sit down. The level of Dork may weaken your knees.

Life is kind of like playing the video game Halo. We’re all running around having fun, but we’re playing at different levels. Some people are playing Easy. And yes, they’re having a lot of fun, but do those folks get through “assault on the control tower” with as much glory and grandeur as those persons who play through those levels on Heroic or Legendary? I think not.

Where is all this going? well. Whenever I feel I need a little motivation, I think “I’m playing Legendary!” and then I totally rock hard for at least another 10 minutes before giving up.

That’s right.

Just earlier today I went for a run, and I was going to turn around, but then said to myself. NO! I want to play legendary. and I ran for another two minutes!

Granted… adding two minutes probably only upgrades me to Heroic… or maybe Normal. But anyway, it’s the thought that counts.

That’s how I feel about catching the train in the morning.
I overslept on monday and got up at about the time I normally leave but I said to myself “i wonder if i can do it” and drove very quickly, then jumped the volvo through space time, landed in a parking spot and made it on the train anyways!

Plus, just like in halo, I have a second train 30 minutes later as my extra guy.

I was convinced for a moment that this was going to be the first “Advice” column. Seems not so.

I thought the advice column was starting this week?

That’s not so dorky. I play ACTUAL Halo on Legendary, to make up for the lackluster “Easy” life I’ve led. Sure, it’s super-sad. But every time I feel depressed, I just think of Grunts, and smile.
