this cold gave me a roundhouse kick to the face

I’ve been sick more in 2006 than the past two years collectively. Perhaps this is a sign that I should have invested in the larger benefit health insurance this time around.

This last bout with illness was a trying one. I had intended on defeating it with will power alone, but was quickly humbled as my body decided to go on strike. Special thanks go out to the roommates who dealt with my groveling and brought me water and drugs.

Drugs? pretty great. let’s just get that out there. Whoever invented Tylenol deserves a raise. Chemistry rocks.

Perhaps you should eat some fat so your body can handle the fat soluble vitamins that it needs!

    And really.

    Willpower v. Cold?

Did you really expect that to work Mr. I-don’t-eat-the-egg-yolks-or-cheese-because-they’re-bad-for-me?

    Really though.

    Get better.

You think Tylenol’s great, you should try DayQuil! Whoa-boy, that’s the stuff!

Well, Johnson and Johnson created Tylenol (or maybe a subsidiary, I forget) so you could ask Kate (from Ohio) to track down it’s inventor.

Don’t take too much Tylenol. Roughly 400 Americans per year are killed by liver failure due to Tylenol (acetaminophen) poisoning, and 26,256 Americans are hospitalized!

Dude it’s all your own doing. If you weren’t so busy being ultra-healthy your body would be fully armed for whatever germs came to mess in the house of D.
Seriously, though: Haven’t we covered Tylenol? Maybe all the brainwashing pills you’re taking are making you sicker and sicker, thus forcing you to buy more? I can’t even think of anything that sounds less crazy.

Have you ever considered putting your body on the defensive? I’m a huge fan of herbal medicine, and a daily dose of echinacea can bolster your immune system as can goldenseal. Also garlic has antibacterial and antiviral properties so if you eat a lot at the first sign of illness (or just all the time) you can sometimes stop a cold in its tracks.

When I find I have those first itchy feelings of a cold, I take:
1000mg of echinacea twice a day
3 cloves of garlic (in FOOD – try not to cook it too much)
    A multivitamin

Repeat every day until you no longer feel sick – if you get it soon enough, sometimes only one day is all it will take, if you DO get sick, keep doing the patented Ruth regimen and your cold will be greatly shortened.

I’ve done this the past few years and I’ve only gotten about one cold a year, nothing worse, and when I did have a cold I only had 1 or 2 miserable days as opposed to 4 or 5.
The only drawback (or maybe it’s a plus) is that the regimen causes your urine to adopt a flourescent color similar to that of mountain dew. I wonder if it would glow under blacklight…

Mike D you need to get better so you can post some things on the internet. Right now, all we’ve got to go on are other people’s comments!

I agree with the eat more bad for you food suggestion. All I eat is food that is bad for me, and I get sick less than you MikeD. The only food I eat that is good for me is what shauna cooks. Other than that its “Bag o’Doritos” or 17 Whoopie Pies for me. Fat is Natures Miracle Drug!
