morning hunger

It’s 9:30am.

I just finished my lunch of hard boiled eggs, a tuna sandwich, and fruit. There’s some cottage cheese and a yogurt in the fridge, but it’s unlikely those will last past 11.

This happens far more regularly than I would like to admit. I can’t explain it, I usually get hit with hunger about two hours after breakfast. Today the hunger was a bit deeper than usual.

Thankfully I have a stash of emergency food for just such occasions. So, it looks like the rest of today will include oatmeal, and a variety of canned goods.

Does anyone else have morning, early afternoon excessive hunger issues? I rarely have problems in the afternoon or evening. If I can make it to 3:00 I’m golden until a late dinner. So strange.

I always have this problem. I usually just try and avoid the morning hunger with one or two well spaced snacks in the morning. I also havea stash of food at my desk. In the afternoon not as much of a problem, although I do usually have a substantall snack upon getting home from work as I’m usually starving by then again.

I have the opposite problem. I don’t feel hungry at all until about 12pm. It usually results in me skipping breakfast all together unless I know I won’t be able to get to lunch early. Then I try to stomach a banana or something. After about 11am or 12pm I’m fine for the rest of the day. Its weird. Its like you steal my appetite every morning.

I guess I usually have a substantial snack when I get home too. It’s just that food is so good. I can’t resist it.

I get hungry around 10:30 if I eat breakfast, if i forego breakfast (like I do most mornigns) I’m not hungry till after noon. I’ve never figured out how eating more makes me hungrier.

The solution is simple, emergency celery. I usually have it at my desk and it’s delicious.

I don’t generally eat breakfast, and therefore get hungry at around 11 or 12. However on the days that I do eat breakfast it doesn’t seemto make any difference to this late-morning hunger.

I think you’re not eating enough. Seriously: with your exercise regimen, you should be probably having an even spaced five meals a day. and, add a little fat to your diet. It fills you up way more than protein.

You are listening to your body, and eating when you are hungry, and you are eating nutritious food. You’re doing the best thing possible for your body.

I think a lot of people are inclined to stick to the 3 meal a day, maybe a snack reigme, and you’ve successfully extracted yourself from it. Celebrate, Mike D, for you have found freedom!

    1. I can’t wait until your metabolism hits bottom like an elevator out of control, and the doors open and unleash a whirlwind of fat. You may be 80 when this happens, and I may be dead, but SOMEONE will be laughing. There has to be…
    2. You get hungry after breakfast because you don’t eat breakfast. You eat a small bowl…it’s not even a bowl, it’s a mug of cereal. After this shamefully small mug of cereal, you get hungry again quick. I, after consuming at least half a box of cereal each morning, can hold out easily until after lunch. Then, after screwing up the order, you just keep snacking causing a perpetual need for small helpings evenly spaced throughout the day, like a guy who only puts 2 gallons of gas in his car at a time and wonders why he has to fill up so often.
    3. Your exercise regiment is a healthy one, however it’s isolated to outside of the usual 8 hours a day you spend stuffing your (fat!) face. Load up on stuff after each routine and the next day have a decent breakfast, and you’ll be right as rain.

Or, just get ahold of some liquid potato chips, and leave some tupperware for the rest of us already.

My solution to this problem is to spread the love. When I wake up in the morning, I drink a big glass of water, and head straight to work. Breakfast is eaten on company time, and is broken up into stages. For the afternoon, I eat a decent sized lunch, and throw in a ‘chips and salsa’ break sometime between lunch and the end of the work day. On top of all of this, I drink lots of water throughout the day. That way, I stay hydrated, and my stomach stays filled. I love eating.

Good move with the Chips and Salsa break. that sounds awesome.

Does your company provide any free breakfast eats? or milk perhaps?

    UPDATE:

Thursday, as I walked back to my desk plagued with hunger, someone approached and told me that there was some free food upstairs.

YES! once again, my compnay has come through for me in a time of woe. Wonderous. I had two sandwiches. A tuna, with lettuce tomato pickles and hots, and a turkey with the same. It was heaven.

Nah, they don’t provide anything. Those bums. No matter though. I have a mini-fridge next to my desk, and I keep it STOCKED. Also, the drawer in my desk that is typically used for hanging file folders has been designated the “bread goods drawer.”
