Do you need a reason to hate hippies?

We have no news yet on Roommate #5. As soon as word is out, it will be announced officially on mikedidonato.com.

Thankfully for us, Sander doesn’t live at the House of Rock. And as for me, I love hippies. I think they are awesome.

Hating hippies is part of the punk doctrine. If you are a punk, you must hate hippies. It’s kind of like ninjas and pirates, only with more pathos.

I always thought it was punk vs raver, but i guess you could add hippies there too.

I can’t speak for Sander, but i’ve met far more useless hippies in my life than useful ones. My high school was full of idiots that had ill-concieved dreadlocks, constantly high, were utterly useless, and didn’t know how to shower. That’s the reason hippies are suspect in my book, especially if they profess to liking phish or the grateful dead. I do have to say Jocelyn earned some points for all hippies, but she knows how to shower : )

However, having said that hate on Sander all you like, but it’s ok to hate hippies too.

It doesn’t bother me that he hates hippies, it bothers me that he hates ALL hippies. and he judges them soley on appearance. By his critical eye, he would hate such gems as Joanna Begin, Wizzo, and Anyone who ever played hackey sack at the WPI fountain (none of which I would classify as a true hippy). I have a problem with people judging others without giving them a chance. I have a real problem with that.

If hippies are ‘suspect’ in your book Shamus, that’s fine. Because it sounds like at least you give them a chance. Sander does not. I don’t have respect for prejudiced jerks.

and of all the people in this world, Sander is not one to ever show disrespect of someone for not showering. That boy goes days without water touching his skin. I know. I’ve seen it with my own eyes.

Hippies aren’t just about good times, smiles, and tye-dye, Mike. They’re also into complaining a lot about everything, saying they’re going to do something about it, and then not doing anything.
There’s a fine line between this and me, who complains a lot but never makes any claims about planning to do anything about anything.
Also, they’re too damn friendly. Most people are real jerks, losers, people who will only disappoint you. Without acknowledging this most basic fact, hippies are stunting our progress against these very individuals who drain on society, and thus becoming such people themselves.

As far as the national anthem, dude whatever I’m from Maine.
