RAINBOW MSPaint CONTEST

THE RESULTS!

Thanks to everyone who participated in this week’s MSPaint contest. The challenge was to draw that which you would least expect to find at the other end of a rainbow. We only had nine entries, but there are still some excellent drawings in the bunch. Here goes!

Rainbow1
Nothing spells rainbow like death, destruction, and eternal suffering

Rainbow2
More death destruction and eternal suffering! ha ha

Rainbow3
What’s at the end of the rainbow? One Smelly Stinky Sock.

Rainbow4
Snakes on a Plane! five stars? That IS unexpected.

Rainbow5
The artist actually put some German in this. Well done!

Rainbow6
Tragic, yet poetic. Skydiver gone wrong.

Rainbow7
YES! NICE REFERENCE!

Rainbow8
What freaks me out the most is the cloud that looks like a cross

Rainbow9
I can’t deny that this would be extremely confusing if actually found.

Okay, you know the rules. Vote for your favorite 3 in the comments. And then if you want, give a bonus point for the most inane. You can’t vote for your own. Comment away!

Here’s a ‘gallery’ to aid in your voting review (click to expand the drawing):

I don’t really feeling like voting in this one just because the choices are so limited… but I will. Though there were some very artistic drawings, I think I’m going to vote on the ones that I think BEST fit the theme of what you would “LEAST EXPECT” to be found.

2 – “What you talkin’ about Willis?” Oh man, I NEVER saw that coming, not in a million years!

3 – A smelly sock… seriously, that’s where they must go when you lose them…

5 – There is a leprechaun, which is completely likely, however, he has been run over by a tank, and that is freakin’ AWESOME as well as unexpected! Also, Hitler?! I think you’d be pretty darned surprised to see him, no doubt.

As usual, my quickie impressions of all entries.

    1) I’m smitten with this one. I love the skeletons, and their expressions! And the flames are nice, too. Artistically, this is the best one. I’m confident to report, that I believe this one is Mike D’s.

    2) What’s funny about this one to me, is that I almost submitted an entry with the IRS headquarters (you can even ask Mike D, as I mentioned this in an email). And a Gary Coleman leprechaun is definitely unexpected.

    3) It’s everything you’d expect to find at the end of a rainbow, and then a sock. My question is, what is that black blob thingy with the brown smudgy things?

    4) Roland? Is this yours? Because you just mentioned this movie on your blog. It’s clever, but I was hoping to at least see the end of the rainbow.

    5) Oh my, this might be my favorite. I, too, was thinking of drawing the source of the rainbow to be something evil or twisted. But I never thought of the nazis. Wow. This one also has some mystery to it, since I don’t know German. Oh, and the leprechaun roadkill is classic. And, the Hitler is very well drawn.

    6) There’s a mystery here, too. What happened? Obviously, his chute opened!

    7) Pink Floyd, alternative energy source. Converts rainbows into coffee burning power!

    8) Wow. Overload. Homocidal maniac, decapitated rabbit, a cloudy crucifix, and some stick-figured kids with a few added “sticks”.

    9) Good flippin’ lord. Can anyone be so unimaginative to just rehash earlier MSPaint contest entries? Lame-o.

    My votes:
#5) It feels wrong to vote for Hitler, but that’s the point of the contest. It’s the “other” end of the rainbow.
#1) The superbness of the flaming skeletons get this vote.
#8) The raw power of emotional craziness. The kids! AACK!

Inane Bonus: #9. This one also gets the lame bonus.

Well, I did say I did in 10 minutes while at work (so it had to be small).

#9… but aren’t they all YOUR previous entries? Hmm? Methinks you doth protest too much…

Question: What are the rules regarding copy and pasting old drawings into one? I may be wrong, but it looks like that was the case in 9. If not, or if the rules say O.K., then I change my vote to:

    1,9,6

Erm it’s meant to be a rabbit hole… the rabbit’s inside because the sock is too smelly to venture out.

Ok, I admit it. I blatantly cut and pasted my previous entries. (Was it that obvious? I was trying to be discreet…)

The rainbow and the background are original in this version, and I did just a little more than cut and paste. The cupcake throwers have been reversed, as is the Evel Kneivel clown. I also had to tweak the scale of everything to proportionally make a little more sense. And, I had to cut and paste in the right order, such that everything made sense. It was more work that it looks…

Basically, I was lazy with ideas. The easiest one was to just make a smorgasboard of the contests of yore. I figured that pretty much any Mike D topic would be the last thing you’d expect ANYWHERE, so why not three of them together?

If you want to vote for something uncreative and lazy, then give me points. But if you’re thinking that it’s unfair, Walid, you’re probably right. Therefore, you should give my points to someone more deserving: Hitler.

Holy jeebers! Those are all my old drawings! I never noticed that before! That thief has some nerve! I’m gonna hunt him down and splatter him with egg yolks and paprika!

And then I’ll ask him to play Carmen Sandiego.

#6: Very creative. This would be sad, yet very unexpected if I found this at the end of the rainbow…it almost reminds me of Planet of the Apes
#9: Wow, that’s pretty unexpected, seeing as how the contest drawings are usually crazy. And seeing them together, well that’s less than one in a million…
#8: I think I would soil my pants if I saw this.

    1. I vote first place to #3. If that’s not unexpected, I don’t know what isn’t.
    2. I vote second place to #8. Again, motivated by fear here.
    3. I vote third place to #4. Mainly because I so completely did not expect that at the end of the rainbow. Indeed, there is no rainbow to be seen at all. I thought it might be a mistake, it was so unexpected.

Inane Bonus: #1. Mainly because that’s exactly what I would expect to see in a contest about the least expected things at the end of the rainbow.

Everyone comments on how there’s now “end of the rainbow” in my picture, but obviously what would you MOST expect to see at the end of a rainbow? *The end of the rainbow itself!* And this contest is about what you’d LEAST expect to see…

And there’s my justification as to why I forgot to include a rainbow.
