Pixen is a pixel-level image editor for Mac OS X. More barebones than Paint in some ways, better in others. Might be a good option for Mac people.

Buying a PC with MSPaint installed, would be a better option for Mac users.

Do people think that this is too difficult of a drawing? if so, I can change it. Feedback is encouraged.

NO! I look forward to this challege. The phrase “too difficult” shall never again be used in the description of an MSPaint contest. All who fear the undertaking of a drawing should stick to their ‘photoshop’ and/or other baby/mac programs.

Umm…OK. I feel like my skills are insufficient to the task at hand – but I’m willing to make the attempt.

I disagree. Pixen is brand new and too powerful. You need something barebones that’s at least a couple of years old.

MSPaint is like a timecapsule from times past. Is there something from a previous version of Mac OS or something?

I think the deadline is too far away. Its over a week away! If it was like 3 or maybe 4 days away, then the really good people wouldn’t totally destroy the artistically weak.

    Too hard?

Let’s take a look. The main subjects have been: a jaguar, an evil clown, and a pirate.

Secondary subjects: typewriter/microwave, dinosaurs, and chess/keg.

I figure that a pirate and clown are the same difficulty. Replace the pie with a parrot, rainbow wig with a hat, red nose with an eyepatch, and big floppy shoes with a peg leg. We’re talking about the same thing here, folks.

I’d also have to think that a chessboard and keg is easier than a colony of flippin’ dinosaurs. And easier than a typewriter.

That being said, it’s this is more of a challenge for me, since there aren’t any obvious puns like in my previous entries.

If anything, it’s a bit boring compared to dinosaurs fighting clowns.

Just to be clear…I know that there is no copying into MSPaint, which is understandable, but let’s say I want to make a brick wall. Can I draw one brick in MSPaint and copy it 100 times? Or do I need to make each brick individually?

Good question! Yes, Copying and pasting within MSPaint is totally fine. As long as material isn’t brought in from the outside world, there won’t be a problem.

The problem with macs is that there is nothing you can run from years past, after the shift over to UNIX, unless you run the “classic” emulator, which nobody installs because it’s a waste of space and doesn’t work that well.

You are making the false assumption that “really good people” take a long time to make their paintings. Miss Ruth’s 2nd place finish last week was done over the course of an hour or two. Doesn’t that just make you sick.

This one isn’t grabbing my imagination quite like pirates and dinos, but i can put something together. Maybe i’ll copy a Duran Duran video.

Well. Damn. If Pixen’s allowed, then I want to use Paint.Net instead of Mspaint.

Duran Duran was named for a villain in the cult movie Barbarella.
