ahh weekend

This was an enjoyable weekend. Jill came to visit and we had quite a bit of fun. Saturday we went to a big craft show in Guilford CT. It was huge. There must have been a hundred vendors. One guy made silk ties, and I wish I had taken a picture because they were beautiful. I tried searching the internets for a good “how to” so that I might be able to give it a try, but alas, even Jeeves returned just a list of silk tie vendors. Saturday evening we went out to a nice restaurant and Saturday night, we tried to go to a movie with Sander. Unfortunately, maps.google gave me some bogus directions, and we got horribly lost. At one point, we were on Flanders st. and came to an intersection with Flanders Ave. We felt like as if we were in some strange time space continuum.

Sunday I went to the park with Sander and Jill in hopes that I could fly my new kite. Unfortunately, there was zero wind. So instead of flying the kite, we all just looked like idiots holding a kite in the air when there was obviously no breeze.

Sunday night I went over to the Baumann’s place for a high school graduation party. It was fun on a multitude of levels. First, I saw a bunch of people that I haven’t seen in a very long time. and second, Mrs. Baumann gave me tons of food to take with me. Here’s a picture.

free!

I’d also like to point out that Shaun McQuaid has made up for his recent “I bought a house and have tons of work to do” lapse and has posted THREE, count them, THREE answers. Check out the side bar for his much appreciated words of wisdom.

I as well was in Guilford, CT this weekend. For a completely different reason. But I didn’t go to the Guilford Hand Arts Fair. and i’m suprised you did go MikeD. Why you ask….because there was a $7 “suggested donation” aka, ticket price. You pay seven dollars for the chance to walk around and look at stuff to buy. You may have bought something, but you may not.
I also gained tons of free stuff this weekend. The highlights of my free stuff, was a carton of Tropicana Orangeade, and a Dyson Vacuum. I will post links to the pictures of both when I get home from work today.

    wow, a dyson! bravo!

Yes, the Hand Arts Expo was definitely 7 bucks a head. plus five bucks of parking. But Jill and I both really enjoy hand crafts, and I would say it was worth it to see all the vendors doing their thing. They had people from all over the place, Oregon, California, New Jersey, Ohio. it was impressive. And we saw some really interesting, unique artsy stuff.

I would recommend it to others.

Fabric stores sell patterns for neckties – they use quite a bit of fabric since many are made on the bias, but maybe that’s changed – glad to hear that you and Jill enjoyed the crafts –

Kurt, is that dyson part of your free stuff????

PLUS, we used our crafty inspiration to make (paint) a really sweet House of Rock mailbox. So all was not for…naught.

Man alive! That dyson is the bane of all ground in Dirt!!! I mean, first of all its teal and Purple. AWESOME! Then it sucks up the dirt out of the ground, and I’m not talking about the carpet. Dirt that lies under the foundation of my building two stories down gets picked up by the dyson!

The mailbox does say House of Rock on it. Though the letters are stick-on, over a very simple red paint background (I think Mr. D. exaggerates his artistic contribution to this project), though it clearly is badass.

Don’t knock that mailbox Sander. As you can see in the picture (next post) it really is awesome. And I think that any level of craftiness, is a level that should be appreciated and acknowledged. Three cheers for crafts!

    Agreed.
However, I may have to stop cutting you any slack, since you somehow transported us into a world where 3 consecutive right turns didn’t get us back to where we wanted to go, but instead the intersection of Flanders and Flanders, which I’m pretty sure isn’t allowed to happen, at least in the reality I’ve come to know.
