mnt. biking

I went mountain biking with Galecki yesterday. It was extremely fun, and extremely hard. We were biking down precarious rock paths, through 8 inches of water, and in treacherous 4″ deep sand.

I tried to follow/keep up with Galecki as best I could. But he’s a far superior bicyclist. At one point he went down a steep mulch embankment next to a marsh and pulled a hard right turn. I followed down the embankment but couldn’t turn in time resulting in my falling waist deep into quicksand like marsh mud. I’m proud to say I was only thrown from the bike once. Though my shoulder suffered a bit from the impact with the ground.

(CAUTION: JILL, DO NOT READ THIS NEXT PARAGRAPH.)
When I got home and took a shower, I had to use a brillo pad and an old toothbrush to scrape the caked mud off of my limbs. I had to also remove the bug from my eye and the marsh smell from my hair.

I had an awesome time.

You did well on the bike for your first time. I’m glad to see your year of fitness including many extreme sports. (rock climbing, mountain biking, beach kiting, etc.)

Michael. What is WRONG with you??!!?? Where did we go astray in your upbringing??? Kite boarding where “you could KILL YOURSELF” and mountain biking, which actually sounds tame next to some of the stunts you have been involved in (I hope you were wearing a helmet). And I think Jill will be happy that you attempted to get that smell out of your hair – picture me shaking my head and praying for your safety and the safety of all the clowns you hang around with…
Perhaps an MS paint of clowns involved in the various life threatening stupid stuff you all do…
Maybe I should just stop reading of your activities…..Ignorance is bliss and all that.

If you mountain bike in Connecticut, you should check this site: http://www.crankfire.com

I found it when I first moved there, and it helped me find loads of awesome trails.

You are an adventure superstar. You should be the main guy in a comic strip — cubicle by day, mountain-man/kite-boarder by night.

What kind of bike do you have?? I will be picking up my mutated K2-Disco-Monkey-turned-extremely-heavy-huckmobile-with-no-brakes from the shop tomorrow after a badly needed fork rebuild!! Maybe when you come down for kiting, you can bring your bike too! There are TONS of trails by my house. Some of which are absurdly technical and have big jumps (I like this) and some are really fast and windy (a lot of other people like this) and everything in between. Although I am severely out of shape, so you will probably leave me lying on the side of the trail, begging for mercy.

not gonna lie Ryan, I’m a horrible mnt. biker. This time that I went with Galecki was actually my first time out. I used his bike, as I don’t even own my own.

However, I would love to go biking with you when I take the trip to the cape. I bet I could borrow either my roommates or Galecki’s bike without too much difficulty. I have never done a jump on a bike. But I really want to be proficient in the ways of the mnt. biking. you’ll have to show me some crazy tricks.
