I’m currently working on some very interesting work. My goal is to try and manipulate variables within the solid modeling program that we use so that it will do my work for me. Sounds geeky? perhaps. But it also holds some huge potential for cutting down the required amount of engineering work for your standard job here at TTool. I hope to be done in a month.
In other news, we went rock climbing last night and I tried a 5.12. I failed miserably. In fact, I could barely do the first move. What amazed me most is that the move required an extremely unusual muscle in my side. After I tried twice I had to stop, simply because this one odd muscle in my side was a bonfire of pain. How unusual.
If you’d like to come rock climbing, send me an e-mail. i’m trying to get as many new people as possible before May 15th so that I can win a free rope.
I used to be #1 on TopSites a while ago. But that was before it crashed… twice, and I’m too lazy to sign up again.
What solid-modeling program do you use? (I’m a geek like that, too). I’m on CATIA V5.
I use Solid Edge v16.
I used Pro/E in college and I think that was a bit more powerful, but the SE user interface is pretty easy.
I haven’t heard of CATIA V5.
Catia is hardcore, used big in the automotive/aerospace industry for complex smooth shapes.
I love pro/e – definately has a learning curve when it comes to learning the interface.
I’ll have to look into SE, never heard of it. I could care less about #1 on topsites – the competition is more fun than winning.
Hey Mike — Hadas (rubberwine) and I were thinking about coming down on Friday night to rock climb. Ya into it? What time is the gym open until on Friday nights?
How much will it cost to climb?
I used Pro/E in college, too, and I got to be pretty good at it. I’ve also used SolidWorks at my internship. But CATIA, wow, it’s awesome. Especially with all of the manufacturing simulation stuff. CATIA > Pro/E > SolidWorks.
Yeah, there was no competition for WP Topsites back then. It’s probably a lot more fun these days…
Alicia: I’m headed up to visit Jill on Friday for her Senior Formal, so I will not be around. However, if you and Rubberwine do still want to go, I can see if Jesse would be willing to take you.
Ted: it’s 20 bucks. And defintely worth it.
20 bucks….tis a fair price indeed.
I’m a fan of any conversation where a program is hardcore.
Yar! There be geeks here!
