SKYLINE 24!

Wow, tons of people got last week’s puzzle. I’m amazed.

Special awards go to Diane and JonAbad who were the first to identify the skyline of Rio De Janeiro (and did so within minutes of one another) and UUIG for not only correctly identifying the Great Wall, but also the location along it as Badaling… the prime tourist location along the wall and, coincidently, where I myself traversed its winding path.

So, here we are. Another Monday, another Skyline contest.

This week we have a skyline from one of my favorite locations. I am certain some of you will quickly identify it.
Skyline!

As for the satellite? I must admit it isn’t as immediately recognizable as I thought it would be.

Good luck!

Skyline 23!

Great job goes to Becky for successfully identifying the skyline image as Kansas City, MO. I had no idea my readers were so well travelled.

Also, great job goes to Tyler and Patrick who correctly figured out the satellite as the location of the tragic Chernobyl disaster.

So let’s jump right into this week’s challenge.

Skyline
What a gorgeous photograph. I hope that someone picks up on this one, it’s tricky because it’s unlikely that many (if any) of my regular readers have been here. Thankfully it’s a relatively unique geography.

Congratulations to Kurt for correctly identifying the skyline as Hartford, CT.

Congratulations to Kurt, Ben, and Mike for successfully identifying the southernmost tip of Simon’s Town by Cape Hope in Africa. It was extremely tough, but those guys pulled it off. One might wonder ‘why would mike choose that random location?’ well, the answer is idiocy. For whatever reason, I had thought that Cape Town was the southern most location in Africa. So I google mapped myself to Cape town, and saw the tip of Simons Town. I setup the whole contest before realizing that… no… this was not the southern most tip of Africa. Instead it was a random peninsula NEAR the southernmost tip of Africa.

all is well however, because Kurt, Ben and Mike found it. Well done dudes.

This week’s skyline will likely be a tad bit harder then Hartford. The satellite image is one that may appear to be tough, but it is a very significant location.

Best of luck!

Satellite Hint #1:
Something very bad happened at this location.

Skyline 21!

Wow, two skyline features in a row. Crazy!

I congratulate Patrick and Tyler* for making the connection between my clue (it mentioned light and wonder) and the satellite image’s unique northward facing beach to correctly identify the location as Pharos, an island off of Alexandria, Egypt. This was the location of the Lighthouse of Alexandria (one of the seven wonders of the world).

No one got the skyline. It was Rochester, NY.

So this brings us to this week’s puzzle.
