This week’s Economist has a really great section on Ageing populations.

I strongly recommend reading it.

A global economy that defines prosperity as continuous growth is unsustainable, yet we fight so hard to keep it growing. I understand that supporting an aging population will require fundamental shifts in policy, thinking and expectations, but somehow fail to see it as a bad thing that the world population is stabilizing.

I suspect that the burdens of global overcrowding as we approach 9 billion in 2050 will somehow overshadow health care cost crises in developed nations. Just a guess. Although, if you don’t concern yourself with the billions starving now, then you may not agree.
