Wow. Especially wow since your name is pretty much spelled phonetically. He should run for vice president in a few years.

I totally have that same experience on a semi-daily basis. I’ve come up with a catchy little sing-song (so dorky, I recognize this) to spell it out because I’ve had to do it my whole life. The incorrect spelling of my last name reaches even crazier proportions when the parents of my students write me emails/notes. Even tho my last name is my email address, they manage to misspell it in the greeting. Really?? (And, to top it off, it is ALWAYS misspelled in such a way as to make me related to Peter Frampton!)

Actually, on the subject of misspelt names, I woke up in hospital after my operation a few years ago with my name written above my bed as “Ronald”. Right letters, wrong order.

That’s wierd, I had a very different experience with the security guard today –

Me: Hi, I’m Sander Van Twisk
Guard: V-A-N…
Me: right…
Guard: F-A-T-S-O?
Me: perfect – I’ll check out when we leave…
Guard: Don’t take the bridge – 5 ton weight limit!
