I’m afraid there’s a freak ton of stuff going on at work this week, so I really can’t put in the time for a proper update. And when the going gets tough… the tough go through their MSPaint archives and post a handful of old drawings. So here we go - a collection of MSPaint. I will title this collection:

Obviously, the one with the map gets most of my attention…

Mike D obviously doesn’t think tornadoes are awesome. The whole alley is blue.

And North Dakota being more awesome than South Dakota and Wyoming? I’ll admit, western North Dakota is pretty cool… but it can’t compete with the SD Badlands, Black Hills, Mount Rushmore, Devil’s Tower, Yellowstone National Park, Grand Tetons, and the best orienteering terrain in the country.

Good questions. I’ve only met two people from North Dakota - and they are both absurdly awesome. Now, this information is certainly biased because neither of these people are still in ND, but I figured it deserved some ups for that.

Wyoming probably does deserve more credit for having Yellowstone.

Hmm… people from North Dakota are awesome, so the state is pinkish. I’m from Kansas, but the state is blueish. Therefore, I am not awesome.

What’s up with all the love for the PNW, especially Oregon? Because your sis is moving there, and your flat Joel candidate is campaigning there?

Actually, I’ve only heard good things about Oregon. In addition to Awesome Sarah T and my Awesome Sister, it’s the indie capital of the world and seems to be highly thumbs up for innovative entrepreneurs. Washington state also seems awesome. California… a little less so.

No offense on Kansas. It’s just… not my cup of tea.

Kansas has one bright red spot: Lawrence. The rest is blue.

Since I’m now a PNW’er (and have no intention of leaving), I’m biased to WA and OR.

Oregon gets more cool points in my book for having that indie vibe, having Powell’s Books, having killer orienteering terrain near Bend, having Eugene, Salem, and Portland, and Crater Lake and Cannon Beach and volcanoes!

That said, I love Seattle. And I live in a fairly “indie” area of it, which makes it exciting. [/gushing]

The reason I hadn’t posted this particular picture earlier was that I actually wanted to have it more localized. I had started drawing in the colors for each specific area… but realized it’d take way way too long.

You’re awesome too Mike D! Just wait until you come visit your sis, and we will show you the true awesomeness that is P-town. The karaoke alone will have your head spinning…

What’s your beef with Idaho, it’s pretty. But I’m glad my fair state of Illinois is a Midwest standout.

And you look like you need to eat a sandwich in the storyboard pictures.

How can you put NJ that high on the list? NJ may be the worst state ever.

yeah. I’m not a huge fan of Jersey at all. I’m not sure what happened there.

I think what you meant to say was, “Well, Irene is from NJ, so that fact alone pushed it from blue to pink.”

I am a bit surprised at Wisconsin being ranked so high on the awesomeness scale. What do we have in Wisconsin that’s awesome?

Why do you hate missouri, and by association, me? I also need reasons why CT is not as awesome as MA.

Comment by mike d. |
2008-07-11 15:41:02

Actually, Missouri did pretty well compared to its surrounding states.

CT’s got a handful of fun, but it doesn’t have the urban environment of Massachusetts or Rhode Island.

The only reason CT did as well as it did is because of Darcy Moschenross and her fantastic sunglasses.

Vermont is way cooler than Connecticut of New Hampster.

Mind you, most of my Vermont experience was in a car ride in the midst of a huge snowstorm. Despite this, I gave it the benefit of the doubt in regards to like vs. non-like because Vermont does have Ben&Jerry’s. And B&J is amazing.
