Google Desktop

June 10th, 2008 by mike d. in Quickthoughts, Work

I use Google Desktop every single day at work. It is a life savor. If you haven’t tried it, it can honestly save you hours over the course of a week or month.

I love my google desktop, I have the weather on it in 3 different locations and I love to compare the weather at home to here at university. I also mainly use the BBC News and Wired Top Story feeds. As well as my horoscope!

What do you primarily use on yours?

mostly the search feature. It saves me hours of hunting through windows files for what I need.

that’s interesting, I didn’t know this feature existed. I’m gonna have to have another look in the abyss of features google offers!

Just to clarify - you downloaded a program written by a SEARCH ENGINE company, and were unaware if its search function?

Now I look like a complete idiot as I thinking of igoogle (the customised google homepage) not google desktop. That is especially bad as I have just completed a project on search engines and web crawlers inc. research into google desktop :( Extreme Fail

I don’t have Google Desktop, but I do have Spotlight and Quicksilver (Mac programs that have similar functionality) and I have to agree, lifesavers.
