Welcome to the second edition of FreeSwim. As a reminder, FreeSwim is a day where you’re going to get a random collection of entries that don’t really fit anywhere else.

We’re going to start this free swim day off with an evolutionary showdown… so to speak.

Somehow, Schenk got his hands on some evolutionary data.

The following charts (I think there are seven) compare species in a battle royal of how many new species have been discovered within a certain period of time.

Let the games begin!!!

I must say, I have been putting a little too much thought into this whole 720 posts thing, and I feel really thick, because where did you get 720 from?
By logic it would be 24*31=744. How are you losing the extra day?

Yeah… well… yes.

See, when I first started planning for this event I didn’t know which month I’d actually end up doing it. My guess was actually June of ‘08. Only after I had done some infrastructure work did I decide to do it in a month of 31 days.

I’m not yet sure if I’ll do a full 24 posts on January 31st or not. So it may indeed be only 720 posts.

Now it all makes perfect sense, I now realise that a) I am not crazy and b) My calculator isn’t broken! Woo
